vertical planters

I want to do an indoors green wall.
I had planned to start this project for a while now and I thought to go poking for GWAPA's vast knowledge and experience before getting lost in the wild wide web.
As far as I remember Kris had something similar for his garden. I am thinking to make it as thin as possible, all green with low light plants ( ferns/mosses and such ).
If you have any tips or suggestions, let me know. I have some idea on the support structure, racks, watering ... but I have not yet thought how to light this thing.

You'll want to use either "EcoWeb" available from Ray Barkalow at Firstrays: https://www.firstrays.com/cgi/cart/comm ... t_match=on

or use "EpiWeb" http://www.epiweb.se/english.htm. I've dealt with Ray and he's very good to work with. Ray has also done some work with EcoWeb and green walls so I would drop him a line.

The green wall at Longwood gardens I believe actually uses a landscape fabric with potting mix in the individual planting pockets. There's a little about it here: http://plantexplorer.longwoodgardens.or ... GREEN_WALL

It's an awesome display! Everytime Marlene and I go, I have to stop and take lots of pictures. Staff is also very helpful and if you call or e-mail they can give you plenty of advise.

I think I will do a smaller scale trial to see how plants are doing, what plants to choose and how much lighting to use( my living room is almost dark so I need to artificially light this thing).

That's why I suggested contacting Ray Bark. He did a trial using a single sheet of his Ecoweb in a tray with a circulation pump.

In addition to all the open top countless aquariums I have around ? I don't think it will make such big difference.

Considering how dry most of our homes are, even with aquariums, I wouldn't worry ...
