I'm looking forward to the orange, yellow colors! I should have it on Monday. The seller told me that dosing iron in the water column isn't enough to keep the color and I need to use iron root tabs to keep the color.
Does the aquasoil have enough iron initially or should i place a tab nest to the roots when planting?
I have Flourish and Jungle root tabs. He said the Jungle are better for Iron.

I use Jobe's stick as a root fertilizer that I got from Home Depot. I believe this is the cheapest way to go.

I love this crypt. It's so pretty. The oranges and yellows are nice. I need to put in a root tab to get the colors going again.

Haha, how can I propagate the little bugger? I'll bring some to the auctions:)

Shahriar, crypts are easy to propagate. Plant, feed the roots, repeat. Once the roots establish, you'll have lots of thick clumps of plants that you can split apart at the base of the rhizomes. C. wendtii is a very easy plant to keep. As with any crypt, don't worry if the leaves melt initially. That's common, the plants will grow back from the rhizome.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to grow, but it takes a while to do so. I got a plant, and now I think that I have two little plantlets so far. As soon as I get a decent sized clump, I'll share.

Will do - I plan on putting a fert next to it's roots to bring out the color as well. I am weary of breaking up rhizome. I understand we aren't supposed to bury the rhizome totally.krisw wrote:Shahriar, crypts are easy to propagate. Plant, feed the roots, repeat. Apparently, it's not that easy to find. I found a LFS in Florida.scientist0724 wrote:Yeah, it's pretty easy to grow, but it takes a while to do so. I got a plant, and now I think that I have two little plantlets so far. As soon as I get a decent sized clump, I'll share.

The plant is a cultivar developed by Florida Aquatic Nurseries, the aquatic plant supplier for nearly all stores in the USA. You should be able to walk into just about any pet store that carries plants, and ask if they can special order this plant from Florida Aquatic Nurseries on their next plant order. Most stores just order the same 5-10 plants every order unless there are requests like this.
