That why I put my FBS over MTS. FBS is not organic but has a high CEC which means it's good at collecting and giving up nutrients. MTS promotes truely insane root growth.

Akadama used in Bonsai and the Asia aquaria is the next big thing in high CEC, I know of a couple people using it on TPT and it sells on Amazon.

Re: Resetting 120
I think I'm going for the Flourite Black for two reasons: 1. It's black and 2. It's cheap. Oh yeah, it's readily available.
I'll be spooning it in anyway by taking out 90% of the water and usung a cup to apply it.

Where can you get it locally, I have always like black in the aquarium too, for both backgrounds and substrate.

Give Exotic Aquatics a call. I think got mine thru Amazon Prime. I remember thinking what a deal on no shipping since I got 8 bags. I like the small grain size of FBS rather than the gravel appearance of Florite. FBS looks more like natural mud bottom to me.

HOT had it once before. You also can get Aquaflora at Petco.150EH wrote:Where can you get it locally, I have always like black in the aquarium too, for both backgrounds and substrate.
Re: Resetting 120
Hot doesn't carry it any more i'm sorry to say. They are making a lot of changes in the right direction but some how missed in the substrate dept, the do have every mixture of plain gravel you could want.
Sincerely,
Tim
