LOL! I was just talking to Jen about this yesterday. I have a contact there and I'm trying to see if he was available to give us a tour for the January meeting.

I had my son's 4th birthday party there and we rented out the downstairs room in Amazonia and it was really cramped. I hope that you are talking about the room upstairs. That one is nice and has plenty of room for us. Some of the staff know me there because I'm always asking the staff questions, especially about the paludariums.

Great minds think alike!

I spoke to a woman named Amy Gaus. She said that they don't rent the "birthday rooms" to adult groups, and vice versa. I gather that the kids' facilities are a little more...durable. So yes, we were talking about the nice upstairs room.

Sam,

Do you think that your contact would like to do a join presentation with my contact, Ed Smith? Ed will not be back in the country until the 23rd of this month because he is probably somewhere down in South America right now, and we would need to contact the Special Events person to book the room ASAP. Please ask her, perhaps she could book us and get the ball rolling for the January meeting.

Cool, Sam. I spoke with Dan at the Special Events division. Like the birthday parties, we are allowed to bring in our own food, no alcohol of course. However, we won't be able to have our mini-auction after the meeting because of the exchange of money, etc.

Also, we should also find out who is going to go to the meeting at NZ, because if you are not a FONZ member, parking is $20. So it would be best to either carpool, or let us know if you need a discount parking pass, which is $10.

I am checking whether the room is available on 1/23, 1/30, 2/20, or 2/27.

And I could easily host the auction at my house either before or after we go to the zoo. It's a 3 minute drive or a 20 minute walk.

Oh no, the auction is one of the best parts of the mtgs. Is there a work around for that?

We had a behind the scenes tour of Amazonia and the Invertebrates House several years ago and it was really cool. It would definitely be worth doing again. :D

There are no new ideas! Looks like our last trip (in 2006) was a success: http://www.gwapa.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... +zoo#p8873
