Hygrophila pinnatifida Problems

Post by jweis »

I know everyone else has great success with Hygrophila pinnatifida, but I managed to kill it in no time. Is there a trick to it?

It got little fine dots all of the leaves and then one by one the leaves fell off. The stems turned mushy. All the other plants were fine. I was dissapointed.

For me, it's just a weed. I pump a lot of CO2, run a MH light on this tank, and dose daily though.

I dose daily too and use 4 24" Geiseman T5s over my 37g. I pump in plenty of CO2 and have it controlled via a pH monitor so I know it is steady.

I find this with some other plants too. Maybe it has to do with the softness/hardness of water. Some plants thrive and other just never make it.

I too get the holes and then the plant just melts. My water is super soft, so I wonder if the softness is what's killing my plants.
