Phosban reactor as C02 reactor?
Re: Phosban reactor as C02 reactor?
I removed the 90 degree fitting on my intake, I also removed those big valves, but left a 90 on the outlet to meet my heater at the floor level, but I didn't see any reduced flow with either a 2215 or 2217, but so far I have recommended it to 3 or 4 people with tanks from 120 g to 220 g and they all liked it.
Sincerely,
Tim

This seems like an expanded version of the Cerges reactor. Do you think I can build it cheaper than $109 bucks?
Re: Phosban reactor as C02 reactor?
You probably can if you get all the parts shipped from one place, housing, pump, tubing, and what ever type of seal you would use on the pump power cord.
or
You buy it from them, save the 2 big valves for future plumbing ($20 value) and figure it only cost you $89.

How did you reconstruct the fittings for the 2217?150EH wrote:I removed the 90 degree fitting on my intake, I also removed those big valves, but left a 90 on the outlet to meet my heater at the floor level, but I didn't see any reduced flow with either a 2215 or 2217, but so far I have recommended it to 3 or 4 people with tanks from 120 g to 220 g and they all liked it.

Well it was easy because I ordered the unit with 1/2 inch hose barbs so I just removed everything on the intake side and screwed the 1/2 hose barb right into the housing lid, I used Eheims quick connect between the canister and the reactor but kept the tubing short, the 2 pieces of equipment are nearly the same height. The reactor comes with a roll of Teflon tape so use 10 winds per fitting or it will leak and tighten until all or almost all the threads disappear. It also come with a bracket that allows you to attach the reactor to your stand so it won't tip over if your doing a filter clean, etc., it's nice but I couldn't use it in my layout. The only other thing you need to know is if you plan to remove the CO2 line from the reactor it is wise to shut off the flow of gas 30 minutes prior to disconnecting the line or it will make a nice fountain effect.

On the outlet side I removed everything and did the exact samething with this exception, I used the 90 degree fitting also.

Fantastic! Will need a picture to 'see' what you did. Thanks Tim!
