I bought some of this from Ghanzafar at my very first GWAPA mtg in February and it has grown in beautifully. I think it is time to give it a trim.
Can I take the trimmings and simply attached them to a piece of wire mesh to have them propogate?
Or, do I need to pull at individual plantlets and attach them to the wire?

You can put them in a baggy and sell them to me at the meeting, this is a plant I've been wanting to try but I've read you can actually use super glue to attach it to wood but I'm not quite sure about the wire, I would guess it will attach itself after some time.
I've never tried any of the micro plant until now, I got some Riccia today and tied it to a rock but let some float, and I have some Peacock moss in the mail I'll attach to driftwood, but I really need to find a nice big piece of driftwood.
Good luck with the Fissidens!

Ask Sam to bring some driftwood, he had a trunkful. I also have a few pieces I will be putting in the auction.
I might have some trimmings. I just retied it after filling in some dead spots caused by using Excel to kill some BBA on it. With the fissidens there is a fine line between killing the BBA and killing the fissidens. Anyway, I need to see how it fills in after being retied.

Julie I know this a really slow answer but I did see how most folks are doing this the easy way. What they do is have the wire mesh twice the size you want and then fold it in half, some make holes for suction cups to attach it to the glass, but anyway open the 2 halves and layout your moss, fissedens, riccia, etc. then fold them back together so the plants are sandwiched between the wire, attach small tie wires every couple of inches as needed so they can seperate and your done.

Thanks Tim. What I was trying to understand is can I just trim it like stem plants or did I need to thin it out by pulling it up from the roots. I think the answer is snip away and then do whatever I want with the trimmings -- perhaps secure them to wire mesh as you suggest, or tie them to other pieces of driftwood, or bring the trimmings to a GWAPA auction.
