Red Root Floater out of tank care
Red Root Floater out of tank care
So, I have a LOT of Red Root Floaters since I bought them at the January auction. In fact, there is so much, I am worried they are blocking too much light from the rest of the plants. So, I want to take most of them out, yet keep them alive to bring to them to the April auction. Would they keep OK in a plastic container sitting in a garden window that gets a lot of light?

Ha!
I split that RR floater with you and mine has covered over half the surface of my tank as well. I also took it out today and put it in my 10g. I'm guessing it would be fine in indirect window light. You might want to put some tank water in it to keep it fed. I was going to bring mine to the auction as well.
I'm switching over to Jen's frilly floater stuff (Myriophyllum mattogrossense) I got at the last auction. It doesn't seem to be as opaque and adds a nice "top frame" to the scene. It's growing but not insane. I also like the way it hangs in an irregular fashion.
I'll take some pix soon.
Edit: I guess it's not really a floater but it seems to be happy up there...
good luck!
