I got this product from Centreville aquarium the other day. I was thinking it was similar to ADA aquasoil. Does anyone have any experience with this product? It seems to do the same thing, as ADA AS and from the pictures on the web it certainly looks similar.
Fred, everything I've read is that it's pretty similar to Aquasoil, but I haven't tried myself. I'm curious, how much (price/volume) was the bag at Centreville aquarium?

Expensive, but fair. I'm unsure the size of the bag, it was checked large (not measurement on the bag I could see or decipher), it was 39.99, i got the 10% off discount so basically it was $36.00. Dave (the owner) told me he wanted to put it at $50.00 so his margin on the product likely wasn't terribly high (perhaps b/c he only ordered 2 for me), but he figured no one would buy it at the price. I requested the azoo plant substrate, which i heard was basically the same as aquasoil, and that's what they got. I'm going to give it a try in 12 gallon cube I am going to convert. I figured a smaller setup would be good for a first try with it.
I asked them to weight the bag at centreville and it was about 10 lbs. A bag of aquasoil is about 20 lbs according to the website. So according to that, a bag of mr aqua is twice the cost of aquasoil, including shipping.
Hmm, not so fair then, if its the same stuff. Although weight might be variable depending other qualities of the substrate. I can always return it if I don't open it.
The bag of Mr. Aqua is eight liters. At least it was labelled 8 liters. Either there is a big difference in density or that ADA as at 9 L is not 20 pounds, or the Mr. Aqua bag is not 8L.
