Golden Naesea

Post by fjf888 »

I purchased locally this weekend a plant that was called gold nesaea. It's unique color called out to me and said buy me. Quickly researching online, this seems to be a newly developed plant. Does anybody here have any experience keeping this? I put it in an area of my tank with good flow and lighting. I dose EI, except for GH Booster or equilibrium which I think is uneccessary with water in our area. Looks like it should be a weedy stem.

Thanks
Fred

Fred, that a new cultivar that Florida Aquatic Nurseries that they introduced three years ago at the 2008 AGA convention. It's a very pretty plant, but in my experience, not the easiest plant to get a whole mass looking nice all at once. It could have just been my tank conditions though. It definitely needs a high-tech setup, which it sounds like you have, so hopefully it'll do well for you!

I have this plant. I bought two stems of it from Aquarium Plants about a month ago. It is still alive and has had a little bit of new growth. I am giving it a lot of light and keeping the pH between 6.8 and 7.0. Considering that I have moved around a bunch, I think it is doing well.

Thanks. Every once in awhile Centreville aquarium gets some good plants, they may still have some left for the Nova folks. I figure I'll know in a couple weeks whether it will take or not.

Thanks

I've had it for a good while. It seems to need A LOT of light to grow well, but doesn't seem to be picky about getting CO2 or ferts in my tanks. It also grows very slowly.

My experience as well. Shade it, and it goes ratty, and fast. Tougher to keep plant, but pretty if you can keep it going.

Here is a pic of it in my time, I clearly didn't wipe the glass down after having my hands in the tank.
