I'm not surprised. This technology has been around for a long time. One of the labs that we used to share lab space with did this with Arabadopsis (a type of mustard plant). In fact, the owner of the San Diego Padres heard about the techology and wanted the lab to create a glow-in-the-dark rose for his wife for one of their future anniversaries. We used to joke about it and that one day we would be seeing glow-in-the-dark turf grass in the baseball stadium.
