Fluval Flora nano plant tank

Post by seiji64 »

Me like! Ran across this on one of the shrimp forums. It's ~8 gallons and comes with its own "soil-based substrate" and "small pressurised CO2 unit." Not sure if/when this will be offered in the US.

Fluval is expanding its nano tank line with several new nano tanks actually.

Anyone know where to get a 75 gph canister? I bought a Prime 10 from Big Al a couple years ago and it is working get but they don't sell them in the US. Most of the other small canister filters I have seen are above 100 gph some way above.

So what filter are you using on your 5 gallon tanks?

5 gallon tank, I use either a Tom's Rapid or the Zoomed turtle filter.

almost identical filters in my opinion with the exception of tubing. One is smooth, other is ribbed.

btw - buy the extra little hanger, you'll end up wanting one.

Eheim also has reintroduced the 2211 nano canisters, but they are over twice as much as near as I can find. Love eheims, just had the other nanos before it was introduced, and not going to spend the money just to see it work.

I have the Tom's little filter and it makes me crazy. If you have any of that wicked alGGae or other plant debris to get sucked up it will clog up constantly. It still runs clogged, but the output is a glorified trickle. When running properly it has pretty good flow.

If it weren't for that I would be much happier with it.

Hydor makes a small canister that runs at 80 gph, but if that Eheim becomes available any time soon I might pick up a couple of those.

ADG already has the Eheim available, but they're $80.00 each. That's a steep price to pay when you can get an Eheim 2213 for less than that.

I can find the Eheim for around 70 (at Kmart of all places, $76 and 10% off till oct 9th).

Still around $80 shipped...

And what do you think an 2213 would do to an 8 gallon (at best) tank at 116 gph? Ever see the swirling vortex of doom?

Oh I'm not suggesting to use one on an 8 gallon tank. I'm just suggesting that perhaps the price is a tad high.
