Enough Light?

I am toying with replacing my lights on my 125 tank with TEK fixtures. My questions is whether I should get 2 4 bulb lights (2x156W) or 2 6 bulb lights (2x234W). I don't have CO2 on the tank.

I guess you're really asking should you get a 8 bulb, fixture 12 bulb fixture?

If there is not a significant cost difference, buy the two 6-bulb fixtures. You don't have to use it, but it is nice having the option to add extra light if you want to. I had to make the same decision when I bought my light fixture and I went with the 6 bulb setup. I'm glad I did. I run the two extra lamps for a 2 hour "noon burst" each day.

Thats alot of light without CO2 though. How many hours are you planning on having the lights on? What plants are you growing right now?

Rico: I need two 36" fixtures, and each has either 4 or 6 bulbs.
Paul: I will look at the price difference.
Rob: Now I have 386W over the tank; however, that's all power compact. I have the light on for about 10 hours, and everything is doing well. I have no high light plants in that tank.
