Pogostemon Stellatus still green

Post by ricoishere »

I have about 10 stems of Pogostemon Stellatus, and thy've grown incredibly fast. Problem is it is stil pretty green, while almost at the top of the tank. It still looks healthy. What could be lacking? Maybe Iron?

It's what it's not lacking. Your nitrates must be high. Lower the nitrate level and stress the plant and it will turn red for you.

Thanks! I'm currently out of town, so there's no dosing at all. Ill check my levels and adjust.
Thanks again!

Update: There was no dosing at all for 5 days. Came back and plant was bright red :D ! AS always, thanks for the advice! Now, the plants grew about 12" in those 5 days as well, so there's about 8" floating across the top od the tank, and the bottom portion seemed to thin out. I'll do a nice trimming and replant. This is a great looking plant.

Thanks again!
