Hi folks,
I'm new to the forum and hoping someone can help me figure out where to buy parts to build my own CO2 regulator. It's easy to pick up a basic cornelius or micromatic regulator and a cylinder from one of the beverage shops, but I'm wondering whether there is a single source for ordering the other parts--a good needle valve, solenoid, and brass fittings. I know that you can cobble it all together from various web sites, but by the time the shipping and handling is done it seems cheaper to buy something pre-built from Green Leaf, Sumo, or Rex Griggs.
Alternatively, if anyone has any of these parts left over from their own build project--particularly needle valves and solenoids--I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

Re: Interested in building a regulator - need help with part
Hello Sam, if you want to build your own you may need to shop around.
N.B Cochrane Co. is a good source for Clippard parts, like your soleniod, tubing, check valves, and other miniature brass fittings. Last time I ordered from them there was no charge for shipping. Items were sent F.O.B.
Some of the brass fittings and pipe dope can be obtained from a Lowes or other hardware store.
Fabco Co. is a good source for a needle valve, Swagelok is another. Many folks upgraded from clippard needle valves unless they are using a pressure valve with it for better flow control.
You should be able to shop them online. You may need to call N.B Cochrane to order from them.

I have a nearly complete regulator built as you describe, that I would probably be willing to sell you. I say nearly complete because IIRC, I'm missing one small part from Clippard to connect the whosawhatsit to the doomaflidgit. Or maybe it was the whatchamacallit, I can't remember.
Let me take a look at it tonight and see if I can recall what part is missing and get back to you.
I had planned to put a second CO2 setup into service, but have since decided I don't actually need it - I can handle multiple tanks off my existing setup just fine, using manifolds.
Have you actually purchased anything yet? If I can get my very old 10 lb tank to pass a hydro test, I could probably sell you my (almost new; maybe 6 months old) 5 lb tank as well.
