I finally got my hands on some Hemianthus callitrichoides!

There's a plant called Baby's Tears (Soleirolia soleirolii)that looks
very similar and is commonly available in nurseries.
Not suitable for submerged growth. Its sometimes used
as a moss substitue in Bonsai pots. Chances are
that's what he found. It won't grow submeresed but
as a terrestrial / marsh plant - its looks very nice!
