DIY light suspension

I’m making a light suspension set for my lighting fixtures (tired of using the leg sets), and want to know if anyone is interested in buying the materials for their own lights. Instead of making then from round tubing, I’m making them from flat steel bars. These are easy to bend and drill into, extremely strong (will hold angle without kinking), and look great when painted. DS Steel in Baltimore carries the item I’m looking for. 1/8â€

Do you have a sketch or diagram of what you are planning that you could post? I might be interested but I am not getting a good image of what you are planning and would like to see what your intent for these are to see if it would work for my purposes as well.

Sure, here you go. It wont be tubular, but this is the end result (at least intended)

What are you planning to use to attach it to the tank or have it support itself?

Since they are long tubes, I’m going to have them resting on the floor, attached to the back of the stand with brackets at two (2), most likely three (3) locations: at the lowest and highest points on the tank stand, and maybe a DIY attachment on the back of the tank for added stability, like a thin piece of plastic. That way there’s minimal movement and they barely touch the tank.

I dont think that will work for what I am trying to do with the stand I have so I will have to go another route. Hopefully the extra information here will inspire some others to join you though.

End caps would be nice if we can find something that works for a clean finished look.

I'm heading to Lowes after work and look at end caps, cables, grommets, attacments, etc. I have all the tools needed to do the drilling, cutting, etc... Just need to make the jig to shape the steel. I'll post findings today.
