I'm hoping that's a rhetorical question, because I'm not dosing a thing. (It's mineralized substrate under 6 months old.)
But I get your point. I got rid of whatever that stringy stuff was that was going around a few months back by rigorously adhering to a dosing schedule.
I find this can be an issue with the mineralized soil for me sometimes. It seems to go away as the tank gets older, soon in your case Blaise. Manual removal and regular water changes seem to be the best defense.
In my experience Amano shrimp do fine with dwarf cichlids because they're bigger than cherries.
I'm resurrecting this thread cuz I think it hitched a ride on some java moss I had on the wood in my 120g. I got rid of the moss, I've been picking it out and have started doing 20% water changes every week along w/EI dosing 1/2 the recommended amount for a 120g tank. I have one large and two smaller Angel fish, 20 rummy nose, several ottos and 10 corys in the tank. Will Amano shrimp live in the tank, or will they become snacks for my Angels? Thanks, Loni

If that's the same tank with the mineralized soil I wouldn't dose it.
