Pump Advice

Post by halak »

I am thinking about getting a barrel to let water sit in so that I can use the water for water changes (after the chlorine is gone). I am also thinking that if I got a pump, I could pump the water from the barrel right into the aquarium. My question is, does anyone have any suggestions in terms of what pump I would need? It should be able to pump at least 20 feet horizontally and 4 feet up vertically. I hope this makes sense.

I always use Mag Drives, they are pricey, but I've had them for years now, not one has failed me yet.

A Mag 7 will do the job nicely for you.

I will order a Mag from marinedepot. If someone else wants to join my order, let me know. They have free shipping if we spend over $175. I get their catalog, and I noticed that their catalog prices are less than their online prices for those that never ordered from them before. So, if you want something, I can check if I can get it for less. I am not going to the December meeting; however, I can ask Sean to deliver to the meeting if you order something (correct me if I am wrong, Sean). I will order at the end of the week.

Viktor, what gph are you looking for? I have a couple of pumps that are too powerful for my use. I can dig them out of my "aquarium collection" and find out what they are.

I have a Rio that is 2600 lph (about 687gph). I bought it at auction and then discovered that the electrical wire is broken. So if you can fix that and waterproof it, it's yours.

The other one I have is a Mag 5.
