Chris and Judi, if you haven't visited my fishroom, you don't know what a duckweed infestation is.

Chris, nice setup. Seems like there'd be room for some kind of fish or other in the three or four inches of water at the bottom of your setup. Maybe least killies.

Bob, interesting idea, that had not occurred to me. I'll have to think about that... The egg crate would limit the swimming space, but there are alternatives. And I already have some golden wonder killifish in my (otherwise overstocked) 20 high. I doubt I would need a filter, because there are more than enough plants to absorb the ammonia produced by two killifish. Hmmm...

Nice looking setup - and you've got some great growth! It's only a matter of time before they start flowering for you - and then you'll be really hooked.

This is why I like Sonny. He sees a few inches of patchy water, and immediately is thinking - where are the fish? No puddle too insignificant.

Fish can also help to reduce keep some pests under control, and avoid the possibility of mosquitos getting in there. Plus they add a little bit of fertilizer. ;-)

You really got me thinking with that suggestion, Bob. So I figured out a way to raise the pots another 3-4 inches, so I could have 6 inches of water in there, which amounts to about 16 gallons. Now, I have another fish tank!

At Aquafest, Amy and I became enamored with Apistogrammas, and we bought three pair from Rose and Tony Orso; cacatuoides, agassizi, and macmasteri. We brought them home and put them all in the new 90g. Turns out that was unwise; they fought a lot. So we moved the macmasteri to our 20 long, but couldn't find a place for the agassizi; we didn't have another tank where they would fit. They now live in the emersed setup:
