Would you believe that Li from Monster Aquaria Network won the raffled tank. I won't even tell you what he did with it, as it is a crime against aquascapers everywhere.
I forget the real name of the person who won the silent auction (Dave told me, but most of today is just a blur now), but what I remember is that he is HooHa on APC.

Auction was huge as everyone else stated. To be somewhat expected, the common plants (crypts, anubias, fern) went for higher prices than the more rare stem plants. There were deals to be had. I picked up four more L-226 plecos for half of what I paid the day before for three. Also snagged a pair of Rainbow Darters -- yay! Got some misc other plants too...

It's like buying a work of art because you like the frame, and then throwing away the painting. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive about such things, but it really offends me. Sure, he bought his ticket just like the rest of us, and it's his tank to do with as he pleases - it's a free country. But I'm free not to visit any of his websites (not that I did before, LOL - let's face it, monster fish and planted tanks do not go together).
Hey Jeff,
You did a great job with your scape at Aquafest. Both tanks in the challenge turned out really beautiful. You handled your defeat very graciously.
Paul
And on topic, the auction was huge. Hundreds and hundreds of fish and plants, and other items. I picked up some cardinals, swordtails, and a few plants.

A photo tank?
Well It takes all kinds to make the world go round.
Reminds me of the first time I went 4-wheeling with my local Land Rover club. We were in the Pine Barrens and a member from New Jersey rolled a week old Range Rover. He came charging up a hill and rolled it off the back side. After 3 complete rolls sideways down the hill he came to rest against a tree. Blew out all the windows, crumpled the roof, caved in the front passenger door... $70,000 gone in less than a minute.
Oh well!
Cheers.
