i had a lot of fun today, i should have register for the food though, dang it! i got me a pair of appistos, some snowball shrimp, a piece of african root wood with micro sword attached to it (i didn't know M S could attach?), and some pleco caves 8) i enjoyed the talk about the setting up the tanks, Kris you did an awesome job explaining during that hour!. i loved the fish show and the vendors were very kind, too bad Francisco won the raffle though  i hope everyone enjoys the auction tomorrow :D

Glad you had a good time Damian! Thanks for the feedback on the talks too! I agree that the vendors had some really amazing things for sale. I picked up some L-225 Panaque changae plecos, some red tailed green shrimp from Hong Kong, and a bag full of Apistogramma Inka 50's. I hope nothing cool shows up in the auction as I'm out of room for fish!

When I left, Francisco was the high bidder on one of the scaped tanks in the silent auction at $250, but there's still plenty of time in the morning for folks to outbid him. That's still way below cost for everything in those tanks!

Yeah, today was great! I second the kudos to Kris on MCing the "Iron Aquascaper" competition.

Here it is 1 am, and I just got my fish home and back in their tanks from the show, and boy will I have some planting to do on Sunday night (assuming I get home earlier tomorrow night than I did tonight!).

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's auction, though I've already spent too much money, and have no idea where I would put new fish or plants I did win. See you tomorrow!

You're all put away at 1am?? Lucky!

I think that GWAPA put out one heck of a showing today. Thank you to everyone who came and helped, either by volunteering or just supporting the event. Between the great speaker and demo that had every person in the room completely enthralled we definitely all came away with gold stars! The Iron Aquascapers did an amazing job given the constraints (one hour, restricted resources, paparazzi...), and I think extra credit for sure goes to Jeff for stepping up to represent us and take on the challenge. And being able to do what he did!

Well done.

Now I have some bagging to do... see you all in the morning!

Agreed! Thanks to all that had a hand in it.

How was the auction? What did you get? Any good deals?

I thought the idea to have a talk during the aquascaping competition was well thought out. I heard many others making the same comment. I think we ought to propose this for the next Iron Aquascaping competition if there is one.

I agree that the talk during the Iron Aquascaping competition was a great idea, and went very well. I loved the competition, and would like to see it done again in the future.

A big thanks to those who worked hard to make Aquafest such a terrific event.
