I've had this piece of driftwood for years, bought it in Nags Head for $18. Footprint is 28"longx23"widex15"high. I bought it with the intention of cutting it in half, but it's such a nice piece, I hate to do that. Three summers ago I tied it to the bottom of my pool, after 2 months, it still floated to the top. It's been sitting in my outside garden since. I do have a piece of slate 12"x6"x1" I could attach to it. Not sure that would be enough weight to weigh it down. If it is, I'm concerned about weight in my 120g. I'm using 1" of Shawnstrate and 2" of 3M quartz sand. Given the tank is 48"x24" do you think the weight added by the slate and wood would cause the bottom of my tank to blow? Also, I kinda think it's too big of a piece for the tank. However, being a newbee in scaping, I really have no idea. Whadda ya all think? Below are pics. Thanks all, Loni

Not too much weight - if you are concerned about rock points and such, line the tank bottom with egg crate.
Egg crate is a light diffusor... umm... the sheets of plastic grid that are put into dropped ceilings to diffuse tube lighting in them.
Home Depot, Lowe's, etc... grab a sheet, cut it to fit with wire cutters.

i bought a fairly larfe piece a while back and tied bags (the ones used for filter media) to the bottom part of the wood and hid it there. i also tied a piece of rock to one side, it worked. about 4 onths later in my 75, i took it out and took the sacks out and it sunk
BTW, thats a steal of a piece of wood for the price!!!!!!!!!
