CO2 Fittings

Post by jcali10 »

My needle valve is leaking. I can't get a good seal where the needle valve connects to the 1/8" OD tubing.

I'm thinking about replacing the needle valve, if I can't find some fatter tubing at an auto parts store.

I want to replace the present needle valve with a barb fitting, so I can run an inline needle valve. What size brass barb would that take? 1/4", 10/32" or something larger. It would be connected to the solenoid.

I'm thinking my plants are going to melt away if I don't get it up and running soon.

I bought some tubing from an auto parts store, it may be a vaccuum line, I'm not sure. It's a soft black rubbery hose, but it seems to be working. No leaks as far as I can tell using soapy water at the connections, and inspecting for bubbles.

Do you think the rubber hosing will become brittle/deteriorate much faster when exposed to the CO2?

I don't think so Paul, I used it when I set up my first CO2 system, because I couldn't get the smaller diameter tubing to seal properly, and the 10 LB tank lasted for 15 months on my 50G.
