so everyone here knows anubias are one of my favorite plants in case you didn't realize, yes! it is one of my favorites. i sold and traded a whole bunch including some years old extra large barterii, but in all the time i had them i never really saw them split or give off plantlets. i guess they don't really reproduce that way however i kept one empty rooted rizome from one of the originals i purchased and this thing is overflowing on plantlets well, that was a little exagerated, maybe like 5 plants in an 8 inch piece...what makes an anubia give of plantlets and/or just keep on growing? is there a way to make them reproduce? my nana was originally a 3 inch plant from super pets, now is two 10+ inch plants growing very well...thats the one i kept in a piece of wood and has been there since...comments? tricks

i was thinking about that, maybe i will try it, i would just hate to kill one but is probably not likely. does sound like a good way to propagate less common ones like the Geisser anubia (i hope i spelled right)
as far as the rizome goes, i have only broken it once, when i was selling a very large one and it broke into three pieces and thats where i got this empty piece full of roots from.

Robert Gasser was a botanist who specialized in aquatic plants. He made many rare hybrids in his works, and many of his methods and notes died with him, as he shared his studies with very few people.
That Anubias is a very rare specimen, take good care of it!
the spanish is what made me get it wrong i do that often, the E, I, and A are tricky...anyhow, i read that article, very interesting, and he was recent you know, until 2002... too bad he didn't share

I do want you to know - I've been correcting your plant namings because you genuinely seem to want to learn them, not being like a grammar police or something... I hope you only take it as me trying to help you learn. That is all it is meant to be.
It took me a long time of stumbling to get most of them down, and I still stumble on some. But I got to get corrected a ton by a bunch of folks here and it helped me get them right... most of the time, hehe!
absolutely, i do like being corrected so i can learn it right someday i will have the patiente (time i have, im just lazy) to make an organized plant id sheet or something , but by then i might already know enough to not really need it
