Yes, it needs surface foliage to flower. They are full sun plants. We bonsai them by removing the floating foliage to keep the light hogs from shading out everything else in the tank. If you want the flowers (make sure the buds don't get fried in the lights), let them float.

Maybe I'll let one go to the surface and cut the rest before they get there. Maybe I can trick it, lol. So, after the submersed leaves get to the top, it should start putting up surface leaves that look more like "lilly pads" then it maybe finally put up a flower....RTRJR wrote:Yes, it needs surface foliage to flower.
