I want to go farming. I'm trying to work my way back into this hobby and I have a vision of turning my 75 gal into a farm tank so I will have material to aquascape in some smaller ones. I have been thinking of taking plexiglass and making a grid of 6" squares to keep everything separated, but you know how it goes. Plants do not confine themselves to 6" squares. Maybe that is a lot of work for nothing.
So instead of re-inventing the wheel, I thought I'd ask how some of you do your farm tanks. Throw everything in and do rigorous maintenance? Keep everything separate.

I'm running into the same thing myself. My problem is that if I nicely separate everything into squares, then I have less room for different species. So, for me, I've just plugged everything in as best as possible, and try to stay on top of it as Aaron suggests. Then, of course, comes the problem of what to do with all of the trimmings!
