My moss got identified.

A few folks have seen that funky wide moss I have a little of - The one I brought to AGA for Dr. Tan to ID...

It is a Willow Moss, but not the one commonly sold in the hobby.

Tonight I had the time to look at your specimen. It is a kind of Willow Moss (Fontinalis sp.), but not the typical one which I have seen grown in many aquaria in America and Europe. No wonder, some of your friends think that it is not Willow Moss.

The scientific name of the typical Willow Moss is "Fontinalis antipyretica", but your Willow Moss is "Fontinalis novae-angliae". May I know from where did you get this moss to grow in your fish tank? Did you get it from your place in America? Are you from the the England Region?

Google says that the common name is 'New England Willow Moss' - native to the US.

Does fine, just hates to be tied/bunched. It'll brown out whatever section I try and tie, so I leave a little loose ball in a corner of a tank.

It was a hanger-on in something from GWAPA when I first joined, so one of you had this at one point.

Its possible - you did pick up some Fontanalis...

I haven't been able to find a distribution map saying whether this species is even present in Florida though... Either way, Dave, good job at getting Dr. Tan to ID it.
