Scuds Report
So the Potomac River amphipods that I brought back from Rob's trip are still doing ok. I saw some smaller ones in the green water, so they may be reproducing (although they don't seem to be prolific.)
I also found some in a bucket of Val that I brought back from the trip. I didn't get to use all of it, and then cleaned out the bucket on Tuesday. These were fairly large, apparently doing well on the decayed plant material in the bucket.

You never know what you're going to find, or where you're going to find it. So keep looking.

Mine aer reproducing at a low rate. I don't have too many of them. I think the trick may be to give them green water, lots of algae and plant matter, and a little bit of food suitable for crabs and shrimp. I'm thinking if you give them fishfood with copper in it, the copper will eventually catch up with them.
The other thing--if they die off, wait til you throw the water away. There may be eggs in the container that will hatch after the adults are gone.

I have some that I got from Florida Aquatic Nursery that are doing well in a tank full of a filamentous algae, probably Spirogyra. When it started growing Mary threw all of her extra Cherry Reds in there and they have done well. I threw some scuds in there which most died (from improper accliamation, my fault) but some are doing well.
If someone wants a patch of this algae let me know, otherwise I will throw it away.
Rick
PS. Daphnia is finally going well thanks to Frank.
