oh... and it seems I will actually be at this month's meeting, given Silver Spring is not so far from me!

Dude, just keep a good eye out for larger tanks - I have seen several in the 125g size range for 300-500 on craigslist lately depending on what they had with them...

It'd have to be a pretty nice setup at 500, but some of them have been, good eheim cans, etc.

I am about to order my shells. last call for anyone interested. I have a fairly busy day ahead of me, so I want to order these this morning. If anyone wants in, let me know how many bags, and then I can take payment via Paypal at rich_chisholm@comcast.net.

I would really like to order them by 9 am... I know folks may not see this by then though. I'll hang on as long as I am patient to do... lol.

Altolamprologus calvus sure seems like a GREAT tankmate for the multies... how worried should I be, however, about them eating the eggs and fry?

other than this fish, I think diamond tetras, or some sort of rainbow I do not have yet, is winning the tankmate battle.

I know it's probably too late but for anyone else needing shells, the Potomac River around DC is full of empty mystery snail shells. They have a tendency to get air trapped inside of them and float to the side of the river.

anyone know much about Altolamprologus calvus? I REALLY love the white calvus, and am considering this fish as a tank mate for the multies. thing is, there is a chance the calvus will snatch some multi eggs and fry as well. can the multies...

a) breed in large enough amounts to withstand this (someone at shelldwellers.com has suggested as much)?

b) fend off a curious and hungry calvus?

anyone with any knowledge of this fish, I would appreciate your point of view. thanks!

You would be better off joining Capital Cichlid Association, which has several members that are heavily into Tanganyika cichlids. Many of us are members of both GWAPA and CCA. Some of us are members of PVAS as well.

Sarah is one of the CCA members that is big into Tangs.

I'll thank you to not be telling the folks I brought to GWAPA they'd "be better off" in another club. ;)

The multies will breed at a rate the calvus can't keep up with. Just keep your calvus well feed.

For the questions he is asking and the direction that tank is in CCA is better suited to set him up for success, besides one less INGGite couldnt be all bad.....
