Suggestions for stocking a 20High

Post by maddog10 »

I know that I want Anubias barteri "Nana" (anyone have any for CCA or GWAPA meeting?) and i am thinking of trying a moss attached to a piece of driftwood (any suggestions on the moss?). Looking for a good background plant.

The tank will have 56watts of T5 power!!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Moss any but Java, here is a good link to most of the moss that is out there
http://www.aquamoss.net/

Background, hmmmm, Blyxa aubertii...... maybe a little big, what are you going for? Something across all the back or groupings of stems across the back?

For ideas I somethings browse tanks here http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2007.cgi

They usually have a list of plants that are in there, you'll recognize a few of the club members tanks as well

For moss I liked:
Fissidens fontanus (what they called US Fissidens)
Taiwan Moss
Peacock Moss
Flame Moss

Anyone keeping any of these?

I think I want to do groupings across the back. Keep in mind that I am not really aquascaping yet, I am just keeping different plants. I want to see what I like (and can grow) and then I will try to make a tank "look nice".

I've seen all of those in the club. I have Taiwan moss, and would be happy to bring you some at the next GWAPA meeting. I'd bring it to CCA, but I'm unable to make the meeting this Sat. Just remind me prior to the GWAPA meeting, if you don't locate it beforehand.

I've got some of the flame moss. When is the CCA meeting?

A good backround stem would be Hygrophila corymbosa angustifolia.

The CCA meeting is this Saturday.

I was looking at the tank photos in the link Jeff provided and one of the plants a liked in multiple tanks was the Hygrophila corymbosa augustifolia.

Will both of those mosses attach itself (eventually) to a piece of driftwood? I also have a piece in one of the 50's that I would like to see covered.

Thanks guys!

I know the flame moss attaches to rock pretty well. I think it would attach to wood too.

I'm not sure I can make it Saturday. I"m helping a buddy with finishing his basement. Could I mail you some.

There is no big rush, I can wait for the GWAPA meeting (or longer).
Thanks
