Erio Type 2 - the heck is its problem?

My name is Ghazanfar Ghori, and I'm cannot grow Erio Type 2.
What is it with that plant? Twice now I've tried and the leaves
go from green to a light brown dead looking color within hours
of putting it in my tank. The stems remain
green though and the roots grow - but no new leaves. Weird. Both times
Ive tried the plant its done the same thing. Everything else grows just
fine. Frustrating. Are you guys zapping it in the microwave before
giving it to me - not funny guys!

Really? I know you'll love to hear this, but for Jeff and I it grows fantastically, and takes trimming well, and really is like the perfect "stargrass." Enough making you feel bad.

I assume this is in your 90P with Amazonia, right? I've only ever tried it in my Amazonia tanks. My 40G is dosed Seachem's full line following their dosing chart, and I've got three ODNO 30W bulbs running, 2 for 12 hours with the third for 4 hours midday. In my 75G, I dose Seachem Flourish/Iron + dry macros. The lights are 110W PC striplight running 10 hours, with a second 110W AHsupply striplight running for 4 hours midday. CO2 running on both tanks into the filter. My water's pH is usually between 6.4-6.8, with 3-4KH. (Usually 7.6-7.8pH out of the tap.)

Are you at the point of dosing the 90-P yet? I wonder if it's just defficient. It doesn't do well as a root feeder.

It warms the ashes of my heart to hear that Ghaz can NOT get a plant to grow for some reason. It gives me hope when I hear things like this.

and makes me add another plant to the list of things I will never try to grow.

Never add a plant to that list. Every tank is unique, as are people's individual maintenance regimens. While there are best practices to get you started, there's also a certain degree of wisdom in trying a plant to see if it likes the environment you've created.

For me, lilaeopsis brazilian is a plant I've never been able to grow effectively. (Note to self, try that plant again soon.)

Also note, Erio sp. 'Type 2' has been quite prolific in many people's tanks. Ghazanfar, is there any chance that some of your hydroponics chemicals/treatments might have made it into the 90P? Doubt that's it, but a thought.

I'm dosing a little trace, plus pottasium - ala ADA style with ADA ferts.
A little Seachem Excel and Seachem Phosphate too.
All the other plants are growing really REALLY well.
Just cannot figure this one out.

And its not like it dies off - it just turns brown, with green stems

There are plenty o plants in the past that I could not grow well - but eventually I figured it out. Even C. nurii - which is apparently
so difficult to grow that I sometimes wonder how its managed
to survive on this planet - I think I've finally figured out.
Defeat? Never!

Maybe its time to bring out the electrodes and teach this plant
a lesson.

Strange,.... that plant is a weed! I put that in right after I redid my tank with aquasoil, I was going to say maybe its too soft but I dont think that is the case.
