That's not too bad. You can still grow most every plant in that water, even though some might consider your water hard. I think you'll find the bread and butter Crypts, ferns and Anubias really love the extra minerals.maddog10 wrote:I am on well water.
pH is high - usually 8.4
KH was just over 100 ppm (haven't checked for awhile)
GH was 180 last time I checked (been awhile)

Actually, I grow as much as I can for Scales. It's one of the few plants that sells quickly and consistantly.ingg wrote:I'll probably be able to trim some more Corymbosa at the January meeting. I don't think many keep it anymore, and the stores can't sell it, so I may be one of the only keepers of this plant around, hehe.
Well, looks like I will be doing 2 tanks!!
I set two 50's up side by side. Will probably get the first one going and then set the second one up shortly after (that way I can fix all of my mistakes and "I wish I woulda...")

Well, ok, I think it's H. corymbosa angustifolia and there are several more corymbosas. I still just call it corymbosa because it's easier to say and because it's what everyone was calling it when it was introduced to me. You're right that stricta doesn't sell well, nor do other large-leaved green Hygros.
I have come to the conclusion that Flourite will NEVER completely rinse clean. I used a small flour sifter and rinsed three bags, 1 cup at a time. I spent about 4 hours total. Slowly added water to the tank today and still get a red/brown cloud. Now I figure I still have to do a couple of water changes to get most of the dust off the bottom now that it has settled out (mostly).
