I am looking for an economical yet effective filter for a 30 gallon tank. Eheims are out of my budget at the moment, so I'm looking for other options.
Any recommendations and proper sizes?

Thanks. I've heard good things about Rena, but they largely came from Ray at Aquafest, though I do know several GWAPA members have one. I'll see if I can grab an XP2 by tomorrow (have to clear it with the Considine family accountant first).
Anyone tried the combo filter intake/heater that goes on Rena products?

2213 for under $50? Deal. Though the Rena is a great deal, my current 2213 has been running nonstop since 1987.Spine wrote:Blaise,
We have a used Ehiem at the shop I think its a 2213? I think they wanted $50 for it.
I might be able to get it for less($30 maybe). It has media and the quick release valves on it. let me know
EDIT: Before I commit to this, is the 2213 enough for a planted 30? On the 30 I currently have, I run the 2213 with bioballs and an old Whisper for chemical filtration.
Also, would the 2213 be strong enough for an in-line heater?
