Recommendations for Pendant Light

Post by Rick Dotson »

It was good logging in after such a long sojourn. The site looks great.

I am wanting to get a pendant light for a 75 gallon. I liked this light, but...

Aquamedic AB - 48" 2 x 250W plus 2 x 54W T5 Oceanlight Combo
http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp?Pa ... rodID=1378

It only seems to be available with 10K lights and double ended 6500ks do not seem to be available. It also seems to be a lot of light but maybe I will finally be able to foreground plants?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

The new trend are T5 HO, have a look here and save yourself some money. You will be able to grow foreground plants with this. Very effective reflectors

You can possibly beat those prices from two folks on ebay.

Seedsetc is one seller, and the other is aqualightsonline.com.

Call them and work out a price, they beat the price they post.

I just got a quote from aqualights for a 6x39 fixture (doing 2 of them) for my upcoming 180g, $315 shipped.

His site has them even cheaper, but I think it is dated. Going to try and work him down from the $315, or bring the quote to Seeds and see what happens.

600 watts over a 75 is kinda overkill - heck, it is overkill for a salt tank. With the 468 watts over the 180, I'm still going to have to stage it in phases with a noon burst.

I agree, T5s are a great option now. I recommend the Giesemann Midday bulbs if you go that route. They are 6,000k but still manage to produce a whiter light than most. The plants absolutely love them too. :D

Thanks that looks like exactly what I was looking for.
I wanted something to hang over the tank and it looks perfect.
Thanks to everyone else also.

Are there any vendors that support GWAPA or AGA? I know that hellolights has donated to us in the past.

Rick

PS. Tank is looking good. Hopefully I can catch with you guys at the next meeting. Maybe my wife will take some pics?

Dunno, but we may be able to do some haggling with ordering multiple fixtures (assuming you are looking at TEK's) at once from someone, and I know that seedsetc has supports the Arizona planted club in purchases.

I know I'm in the market for 2 6x39 fixtures...

That'd be 4 lights at least, we should be able to haggle. Starting a thread in group order section.

I haven't ordered mine yet. Although I think I am going to get 4 65W - T5 hanging pendant. 260watts should be plenty for my aquascaping needs. I don't know what I was thinking earlier.

I am also looking to get a Neptune Aquacontroller for lighting the tubes and automatic water changes.

Any thoughts?
