Maybe so. Yes, I rinsed it, after the first several water changes didn't help. You should see the sludge that has accumulated in the bottom of my utility sink from dumping the PWC water into it.
The water in my nano is a yellowish brown. All that's in there is the Amazonia and 3 small pieces of mossy rock. I've done approximately 75% water changes daily since Saturday. pH is around mid 6, by my inaccurate test kit, and holding steady.
I really wish I had paid more attention and gotten into the nano competition. I "think" I might have been able to make a somewhat appearance in the newb catergory. Oh well, maybe Ill just get a nano and impromptu join anyways!

OK... If you use it again, you want all that sludge. That's the good stuff. Water changes are fine, but if it's bacteria bloom or green algae, you're doing it a favor by continuing to change the water. I'd suggest both of you just pack it with plants, and the bacteria from them, plus the nutrient uptake will stabilize everything. Sometimes, it's amazing what waiting 2-3 days to let things settle and adjust will do to alleviate a problem in this hobby.
Mine is doing the same yellow water FWIW, I'm just topping it with water from my 30l for now and letting it run its course.
It isn't much different than what SMS does, too, seems to be lasting longer, but then I'm not packing a canister filter with floss to clear it in the 2.5, either, heh.

Still trying to figuer out how to keep the one down without a boat anchor:-)
If you do, please let me know how to keep anything planted around the Severum, he literally charged into the bunches yesterday and just started doing loops while ripping out plants.
I dont think anyone is going to want him in either PVAS or here so he may end up in the LFS.
I am considering taking the soil out putting in some plastic mesh at the bottom and tie the ERIOCAULON CINEREUM to it with cotton thread then adding the soil back. I don't think I am getting this one to stay otherwise.
