How fast can you raise Iron levels?

Post by Spine »

I just got a Iron test kit by Hagen (0.0-1.0mg/L). I have been dosing Iron at the amount I calculated from the fertalizer on APC. The problem is none of my tank are even getting a reading every thing is zero. I double checked the result with anouther kit at work and got the same results. Will it harm the fish if I bump up my Iron dosing to fast, also do I have to worry about this in the tanks that have no fish?

Thanks
Kevin

Iron doesn't stay in solution, even with chelators. Keep dosing at the normal rate unless you see a problem with the plants.

Is there a thread that will tell me more about your tank so I can make a better guess as to how much iron it might need? Lights, plants, substrate, sorta stuff.
