cool rocks
I really like those rocks used by Amano, as well as aquarists from Hong Kong and Taiwan. They have shapes that remind me of craggy mountaintops. What kind of rocks are those? Are there similar types available in the US?
thanks,

Shireen,
There's some construction going on close to where I live. They did some MASSIVE excavating, and dug up dark, jagged stones from pebble all the way to 3' boulders, in all shapes. It's a new church site close to 100e & 108. I managed to grab some, and will be testing for PH. They're not as nice as what you see at ADANA (those are natural but selected), but you might be pleasantly surprised. I've been meaning to write the address. I'll get that done today. And they've also laid the rocks in a long pile, so no need to wear construction boots. I weighed a 5" x 3" stone, it came to just 2lbs.

Kris,
I'm not sure it's slate, but the color is the same as the stones used in my 75. The best example would be the rocks used in Lorena Muro's tank on the GWAPA homepage. I'll post pics in a couple hours, when I head out. I wish this pile would have been there before I placed an order for Ryuoh Stone from ADA! They arrive tomorrow. But who knew huh? nevertheless, pics to follow shortly.

Glad to hear it. Now, if there's and empty 250G, there's some there, and if there's a 2.5, there's something there as well. That means if the club has used it, I can cease my PH testing. Oh, the address is:8665 rte 108. It's right a the intersection of 108 & 100. Can't be missed. I might go there later, after the church has let out. BTW, there's a lot of trunks from trees that were cut down, in 2'3" segments, roots, branches, the works. . I don't know how long they'll have that laying around.
