dirty dirt.
Ok, so it's not really *dirt*, but catchy subject line, eh?
I picked up a bag of SMS at the last meeting, and am just getting around to thinking about maybe doing something with it. So I busted out a bucket and poured some in to start the rinsing process.
I think I need to go to substrate washing school.
This stuff will NOT come even sorta remotely if I squint just right clean! Is it supposed to? Is there a secret trick? Am I supposed to be standing on one foot and chanting in Swahili or something?
HELP??

It is not murder if you're killing snails.
Whenever I've used Soimaster, I just filled the tank slowly, and put some floss in the canister for a few days to yank the dust out.
You can get sheets of floss from Wal Mart for next to nothing. Go to the crafts section, buy the cheapest and thicket quilt batting you can find - instant sheets of floss, tons of them, for like 5 dollars.

Plant with about 3" of water in the tank, then slowly fill the rest of the way. Will not eliminate the cloud but should keep it small.

Hey now,
I did rinse it. Bought a 5gallon bucket from your favorite place ( you know, the nice orange ones) and went nuts on it with a 3/8" drill bit. Added SMS, filled with water and dove in. By the time I got to around to about the 60pounds worth mark of the 100 I put in, I have no doubts that I started to get lazy.
