I finally received the Metricide. I was getting concerned and emailed them for status this morning. Have (6) 16 oz. bottles already spoken for and 2 available if anyone else is interested in trying some generic Excel; it's $3 a bottle. I will have it at the March meeting.

I realize glutaradehyde is supposedly molecularly different than Excel (polycycloglutaracetal), and it may very well be, but the MSDS for both list glutaradehyde as the active ingredient. Also the term polycycloglutaracetal does not exist anywhere except in Seachem literature.

As Jeff noted in the initial post, others have used this product successfully, so it's not like we're going boldly where no man has gone before. Thank you Captain Kirk.

Okay then, all [8] 16 oz. bottles are spoken for. See everyone on Saturday.

I haven't been using it to be honest. I just have too many projects and not enough time to do them all. :D

I am using it in a 10 gallon tank I set up recently. Dosing 1-1.5 ml a day. Plants are growing; have new growth on the Bolbitis, Anubias nana petite, compact hygro, and hygrophilia polysperma, not noticing any change in the down noi.

I've had some fish die. Tank has no heater, but temp stays about 70-72, so I purchased 5 white cloud minnows and now I am down to 1. My water paramaters were unstable at first. I may have overfed them too.

Added 2 small flag fish last weekend, they are well.
