Um, my favorite plant, thank you! It's really embarrassing how I jumped at that auctionscientist0724 wrote:I like how my nyphaea is filling in in your tank
Arlene
I need to learn how to propagate the plant? All three are doing well and I may run out of room and give you one back.

I see you have Aquasoil. Was that also new when you setup the tank?
There's a sequence of events meant to happen when using Aquasoil. The first 4-6 weeks are not meant to have any fauna because of the ammonia released. Will you be at the meeting? I'll try to bring my ADA book that explains the whole process in great detail.

Hey Aaron, you have a good point but I didn't use ADA Aquasoil.Aaron wrote:I see you have Aquasoil. Was that also new when you setup the tank?

I had no ammonia after day 4.
I used UP Aquasoil from Green Leaf Aquariums. I spoke to Orlando about it before I purchased UP Aquasoil - It doesn't cause an ammonia spike. I couldn't deal with the ammonia spike that ADA Aquasoil produces.
I still appreciate any input so bring the ADA book as I will be making the meeting and any assistance will help.

Well, I found out some disturbing news.
We had a St. Patty's day party later in the day after I serviced the filter. Apparently late that night someone poured a cocktail (accidentally, I hope) into the tank. This happened late, near the end of the party. I did some research and diluted alcohol can kill fish and can kill off beneficial bacteria and disturb the cycle. I think it was the combination of a newly serviced filter and the alcohol that disturbed the cycle and killed the fish...
I was disturbed and hope the guest had an accident and didn't do so out of malice. I will, going forward, ask people to keep a distance from the tank.

If that's the case I would think servicing the filter and doing the water change had absolutely nothing to do with your issues. I don't think that person would be a guest in my home anymore.sfarkhan wrote:Well, I found out some disturbing news.

I have a lily like that, it produces adventitious plantlets where the petiole terminates in the leaf base. When the plantlet is mature the leaf dies and releases the baby.
