My latest DIY: A Teaser Pic
For those of us who hate the look of plastic canister filter pipes and fear the fragility of glass lily pipes...

Thanks. I did this with a lever style manual bender. Not easy is all I have to say, but I think they'll turn out nice when I'm done.

Stainless steel, I assume?
Re: My latest DIY: A Teaser Pic
Yes, 304 stainless steel with 0.049" wall. These are 1/2" as I was able to borrow a 1/2" bender so they should work on filters like the Eheim 2213 and 2215.chris_todd wrote:Stainless steel, I assume?

Very nice looking -- did you have to heat to bend, or do you just bend the same as electrical conduit, but with more force?
Re: My latest DIY: A Teaser Pic
No heat necessary. You just have to go all Hulkamania on it.krisw wrote:Very nice looking -- did you have to heat to bend, or do you just bend the same as electrical conduit, but with more force?

Good to know. Be sure to post the final pics when you're done. Are you going to make an out-flow pipe too?Aaron wrote:No heat necessary. Yes, I'm going to try to make an outflow as well. The only thing I'm not wild about is the radius is larger than I'd like. It can be bent tighter, but not with the simple lever style tool I have available.krisw wrote:Good to know. Be sure to post the final pics when you're done. I'm also a bit stumped on how to nicely terminate the inlet end inside of the tank.

Not to be "that guy" coming late to the party...but I just talked to my Aaron (have to specify) and he was saying how he wish he knew you were doing that because he has sources to buy pre-bent tubing at probably half the radius and then he could/would weld straight pipe to whatever length on either side. Or at least that was *his* take on a method

It is not murder if you're killing snails.
