Not so sure about wiring the fan to the light ballast. You can buy an AC/DC adaptor. You can even get one with a thermostat which will control the speed of the fan. I bought the fan/thermostat controller from Ice Cap, but I can't recommend it because it's noisy. Ghazanfar has nice quiet ones on his reef tanks, but I don't know the brand.

Ghaz

I am finally getting around to this project and was wondering what fans it is that you use on your reef tank that are quiet according to Cristy. Let me know

Thanks

I'm in the process of building a canopy for MH going over a 65 gallon. Long story about how I got here... The canopy is done after a long Sunday, and now I need to paint it.

I cannot seem to figure out what kind of paint to use. The Internet is full of people who seem to have easy access to marine grade epoxy paints. I do not. I was planning to use some glossy Rustoleum enamel white on the outside, enamel black matte on the outside. Is there any problem with this?

Also, what kind of fans are those that are so quiet? I've been thinking about going with the IceCaps, but Kristy seems to have given them the definite thumbs down.

Thanks,

Marine grade epoxy is close at hand. Try West Marine at 601 S Patrick St in Alexandria. Closer to Lanham you say, 8807 Annapolis Rd.
