new condo, new aquairum

Post by fredyk »

I am getting a condo, and looking around for another aquarium. My current ones are three 30gal and one 20gal.

There is lots of things being sold on craigslist, such as 75, 90, 120.

I like the 75 and I like the big planted tank that Francine has, like a 5 foot 120, if that is what it is.

The 75 is the most reasonable, being in good supply with aquarium and cabinets.

Any comments on the 75, 90, 120? thanks

5' 120g is not a common size, you are probably seeing reef tanks, the 4x2x2 boxes...75 or 120 is my vote.

2x1x1 is supposedly the great scaping ratios for tanks (note the sizes on ADA tanks, usually that kind of ratio) - the 120g is perfect, 75g I just really enjoy mine ;).

In theory, you would need less lights over a 75. It would be the cheaper way to go. The 75 would also be lighter, which may be a consideration if the condo is on an upper floor.

I have a planted 120 and it is nice having 2' height and depth, but it does make it a bit more awkward to clean and trim. Either would be a good choice.

i just recently set up a 75 for my mom and looks awesome, much easier to reach the back than the 120(5 footer) that i have. also easier lo light up since there is no 5 feet lights... I defenitly vote 75

Make sure your new floors can hold something larger than a 75 gallon. I checked with my condo association to make sure I was covered insurance wise too.
