Ahem 2213 so loud!

Hey all my name is penny. I'm currently taking pics of my tanks to write an "who am I" post thing. Anyone have issues with the Ehiem Classic line being loud? it makes a terrible humming noise. not too old at only 6 months. I'm thinking about chucking it and buying another one. should i replace the impeller and ceramic thing first before it heads to the bin?

I have fixed noisy eheim classics by replacing impeller before. I would only replace the ceramic impeller shaft if it is broken. This might fix your problem but there will always be some humming noise.

It shouldn't have much of a hum. First thing to try is a good cleaning around the impeller. If the impeller is broken, worn, or has a sand trapped in the shaft, you would hear more of a rattle than a hum.
