Seriously? *I'm* the expert?

Ghazanfar, that cost seems very high. I did my whole rig (minus the cosmetic stuff) for about $300 IIRC. LEDs have gotten cheaper and better since then, and there's no way you'd need five equivalents of my rig. Also, one major advantage is that you can get dimming and color temperature control at very little additional cost.

I did a presentation on this for the club a few years ago. Link is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r4m2w6938236m ... n.ppt?dl=0 Happy to walk you through it, but you might as well go straight to the source: the guys at RapidLED have been very helpful to me in the past. My advice at this point is that you drop them a note with tank dimensions and PAR expectations and they'll probably get right back to you.

If Sam isn't available, I volunteer Dave to come chat with you. He's built me five lights so far and is one of those "research EVERY. SINGLE. THING. POSSIBLE. EVER. IN. ANY. REALITY." type people. I could even drop him off and go do something more interesting until you're done with him. Lol.
It is not murder if you're killing snails.
