Local source for CO2

Post by meichler »

What's a good (and flexible) source for acquiring CO2. I recently purchased a 5lb CO2 tank from Airgas in Hyattsville one afternoon when I could take a short break from work. Unfortunately, they're only open from 7:30 to 4, M-F and I have a 9-to-5 and limited access to a car. I tried to make an appointment for delivery but it turns out they only deliver to commercial addresses, not residences.

Where to people get their CO2 from? I found on a beer brewing site that there's a place in Merrifield that has weekend hours but I haven't followed up on that yet.

I just got a new T5 quad-bulb lighting system and I need to up my CO2 to keep my greenery happy.

Oh, and I'm in Adams Morgan so if anyone nearby ever buys CO2 maybe I can piggy-back off one of your trips?

Robert's Oxygen is a pretty standard source for most of us; I think the one in Hyattsville would be nearest to you.

Thanks. They've popped up in my research. However, they don't appear to have Saturday hours.

This link lists the hours of a lot of places: http://archive.burp.org/Default.aspx?tabid=423

This is the only one that appears to be open on Saturdays.

 We need to get a carpool together for all the DC members going to meetings too.

I'm planing on going to Airgas, this coming Friday. I could pick up your order when I go, if you can get your tank to Petworth. :)

There's a place in Laurel, MD that has Saturday hours, but that doesn't really help you out much.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Someone contacted me via PM who was making an Airgas trip and he filled my tank for me. Our plants are BLOWING UP now! Pictures coming soon.
