I have this Corallife fixture: http://www.marineandreef.com/Aqualight_ ... s53102.htm on my 20L tank. It came with two 65w 6700k CFLs and I used one bulb at a time and now the bulbs are at the end of their life. I am thinking of replacing the 65w bulbs with lower wattage bulbs, maybe 1x 36 w and 1x 18w so I can run both bulbs at the same time. The two ballasts in this fixture are rated for 65w bulbs. Can these ballasts be used with a lower wattage bulbs?
Thanks
Anil.

I think so, but it may overdrive the bulbs and shorten their life.

If it is a single ballast you probably should not mismatch the bulb wattages. Do you know for certain there are two ballasts?

Thanks Aaron, that what I was thinking too.
Sean, I opened it up. There are two ballasts.
I might just end up using a single 55w bulb.
