You need good check valves (not the plastic ones from the lfs) or water gets sucked back toward the tank when the solenoid turns off. The good ones are metal - brass usually. I can tell you what parts to order from Clippard or you can order from one of these other places.

Hey Cristy, stuff should arrive today =) hope the mailmal didnt chicken out with the snow...

how/where do i put the check valves? closer to the tank? if so i have to cut the airline tubing and then cut it again to put the inline needle valve right? i just never used one...

thanks!

Yes, I put the check valve close to the aquarium. It's convenient to have the NV close to the aquarium too.

sweet. its funny but like 5 mins after posting here the mailman showed at my door with the box of goodies
the splitter fit perfectly. i was worried because the website said that it was compatible with certain regulator brands.......
i did not use the inline valve i got from you, wanna buy it back  the needle valve that comes with the splitter is good enough to get very little out. so far so happy!
the spiral co2 diffuser i got, is kind of large(long). does it have a purpose of just for the heck of being able to count more bubbles out

thanks for all the help. now im going to read up on how to get rid of the stuff covering the plants in the mini tank........... separate thread though
