I have decided to give up my on my saltwater nano aka, my salty disaster and convert it into a planted cube.
A year ago I retrofitted the hood with 50/50 LED fixtures, which I really don't like, and the lighting color would also look odd for a planted setup. I know LED's have come a long way, but was thinking maybe it would make sense to go with the old ahsupply standby in either 18W or 24W cf fixture. The 9.75 18W would fix better in the 13.8" hood, than the 13.5" 24 W CF. My concern is the 18W wouldn't be enough light, but with AH supply reflectors I'm thinking I might be ok. The tank will definitely have pressurized CO2, ADA AS or AZOO. (A group PAR meter would be a great buy to help deal with these questions ) The hood is such where I don't believe I can fit 2 CF fixtures with reflectors.
Has anybody here retrofitted one of these? Any recommendations appreciated? I wanted to start a new tank where I actually have a clue what I am going to do before I start.
